I picked up a Garnier BB Cream (in light/medium) from Rite Aid with very low expectations. I don’t usually have luck with drugstore brands when it comes to colored products for the skin like foundation, concealer, powders, etc. I bought it anyway so that I could do a review on it for everything else but the color.
Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream ($12.99) Available in 2 shades.
“Skin concerns, such as discoloration, dullness, blotchiness and dryness can come from a number of different sources. It’s hard to find just one product that addresses them all. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream immediately and effectively fullfills your skincare expectations with just one multi-benefit product that combines intense moisturizing skincare + immediate skin perfecting coverage for skin that looks naturally more even, radiant and smooth.”
I put it on and was surprised at how well the color matched my skin! I literally said “Wow!” The coverage is super sheer, but gave my skin a healthy overall glow. You’ll see below that my freckles actually get “airbrushed” out a little. When I tried to apply a second layer for more coverage… the color seemed to get more pink!! Guess I’ll be using this BB cream very sheer and not be greedy with coverage.
The BB Cream is quite moisturizing which is great, but it doesn’t have a matte or silky finish like some of the other BB creams I’ve reviewed. It leaves your skin feeling dewy so if you have oily skin, you may want to skip your normal moisturizer altogether or just opt for a super light moisturizer under this BB cream.
UVA and UVB Sunscreen: While Garnier states that this BB Cream has UVB and UVA protection… this is not entirely true in my opinion. Octinoxate is used to protect against UVB rays and titanium dioxide (oxide) is used to protect against UVB and short UVA radiation. Unfortunately, long UVA rays are responsible for sun damage and aging. So, please be sure to apply a separate sun block with broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
Sensitive Eyes?: 2 out of 5 times I used this product, I noticed that my eyes got watery and slightly ‘bothered’ for the first 5-10 minutes. Sadly, I think it’s the fragrance. I like the fragrance a lot, but I guess the feelings are not mutual. It’s not bad enough where I would stop using the product… but just thought I’d note. If you have sensitive eyes… you should probably stay away.
Overall Recommendation: Would I recommend? YES!~~ As long as it matches your skin tone, which I don’t see it being a problem since it’s soooo sheer, and you don’t have sensitive eyes. If you’re looking for coverage, you should just use a different BB Cream or a traditional foundation. It comes in 2 shades. I got lighter shade (light/medium) and it’s a good shade for me. Not too gray or pink! Also love the $12.99 price tag.
Have a great weekend everyone!~
