Korean/Asian Sheet Facial Masks

It’s become a routine. Every Sunday night, I relax with a facial mask. I don’t get much sleep over the weekends, so a mask is the perfect way to unwind and give my skin some extra TLC.

Lately, I’ve been really into sheet masks. They’re so easy to apply! Etude House, The Face Shop, Skin Food, Leaders Clinic, Qiora, are just a few Korean/Asian brands that manufactures sheet masks.Β There are tons of brands and masks you can choose from. Just depends on what you’re looking for. Collagen? Hydration? Whitening? Lifting? Calming? Whatever your skin needs, there’s a mask for it. πŸ™‚ Here’s my current stash…

I typically purchase my masks at local Korean beauty stores, but you can also purchase them online at stores like PrettyandCute.com (they offer a TON of asian makeup and skincare options).

To apply a sheet mask, all you need to do is open the package, unfold the sheet, and lay on your face! 10-20 minutes later, you simply toss the sheet mask away and you’re ready for your night time skin regimen. There’s always too much product in the packet, so I rub the excess on my neck, hands and/or arms. πŸ™‚

Tonight, I opted for a Vitamin C mask ($2.99) which should help brighten my tired/dull skin.

My favorite mask:

Masks by Leaders Clinic (about $5 each) are a favorite because these masks are super thick and adhere to the skin SO~ well. Notice (below) how the mask is like a second skin on my face? Amazing! It almost seems like the sheet has tiny quilted pillows that holds the product and sticks to your skin! I tried the collagen mask, but they make masks to address different skin care needs too. πŸ™‚Β  (in case your interested.. my favorite non-sheet mask of all time is Bliss’ Rubberizing Mask, but that mask requires some additional steps)

At a higher price point… Qiora Spa Masks ($38 for a pack of 4 masks) are awesome! Each packet comes with 2 pieces, a top and bottom, which is designed to better fit your face. The gel (blue) side goes on your face, and the other side is covered in cotton making the application easy and clean. Your hands don’t get wet! I have sensitive skin, but I love that I can leave this on almost an hour and not have my skin get irritated at all! Super hydrating, soothing and smoothing. πŸ™‚

Hope you had a great weekend!~ Until next time, stay pretty… inside and out.

I think I’m doing it all wrong…I wash it off after 30 min. Should I leave it on and not wash it off like other masks?

Hi! Don’t wash off! Just pat in the excess πŸ˜‰

Hey! I’m just wondering if you have any suggestions for Korean sheet masks that are non whitening? It’s currently summer and I’d love to put a mask on, but it seems like a lot of the masks whiten plus something else haha. Just wondering which don’t . Thank you in advance! ^^

Hi…Enjoying this site so much! I decided to try a sheet type mask after watching so many of the characters on Korean dramas using them. First of all the dramas were a totally new thing for me (I live in the US) and not only so many of them excellent I’m also learning Korean and have even started learning how to make Bulgogi, Kalbe and Kimchi! πŸ™‚ Anyway, the skin care and attention to beauty in these shows is extraordinary. In searching for a facial mask I came across one by Qiora. Pricey and it ended up being a Japanese product but really looking forward to trying them out.

    Hey πŸ™‚ great review!
I was just wondering, what are the benefits of the aloe vera mas (the one in the green packet) and the pearl face mask (the one from the face shop that you have there in the picture)?
Does the pearl mask make your skin lighter?

hi! love the topic. thank you for the info! but i also have a few questions about sheet facial masks.

is it ok if i leave it on overnight or does it really have to be 10-20 mins. only? and if i leave it on longer, what would be its effect on the face?
until how many uses would it take for the result of the facial mask appear?
and also, what if the person using this mask is a busy person, therefore lacks time to sleep, would the result of the application be positive? what does a person who lacks or has no time to sleep have to do to make her face still healthy?

beep me back pls. thank you :*

    • December 28, 2013 / 3:51 am

Honestly, sleep and water are SO important… There’s no replacement for that long term. As for the masks, you should only leave on for 10-20 and never go to sleep with it on unless its a sleeping mask! Good luck!!!

You apply toner before you put on the mask, then after 30 mintues take it off and apply moisturizer.

Hi! I’m just trying to figure out the order. I cleanse, tone, put serum and moisturizer then use the sheet mask. Is this the correct order? Or serums after the mask?

    • January 12, 2013 / 2:38 pm

Thank for the comment… So here’s the deal. Required: cleanse. Recommended: tone. Optional: serum of choice. Sheet mask. No need to rinse. Moisturizer after. Good luck! Thanks for visiting!!

Hi!~ I’m sorry you’re having problems with them. I don’t work for them or have any affiliation with them, so I won’t be of any help. πŸ™ I hope you’re able to reach them and get it figured out quickly!!!

    • December 31, 2012 / 6:23 am

Hello – momomango here! We already responded to Mary Ann back in Aug, but just in case anyone else was wondering, sometimes your packages will be dropped off in a nearby canada post office if there is no one home as they do not want to leave it outside the house in case of theft. They do leave you a slip to pick it up at the post office. Hope that helps!

    • August 19, 2012 / 3:31 pm

Not sure where you can buy wholesale… Sorry. Please let me know if you find a good deal~

hi i just bought a face mask from the face shop, do i have to use a cleanser before using a face mask?

    • July 31, 2012 / 10:28 am

Hi! Great question. Yes! You should always put on a mask onto a fresh and clean face. This will help your pores absorb the benefits of the mask! Thx for the question and I hope you’ll visit again soon! Xo

  29. July 26, 2012 / 6:22 am

Nothing to do with masks, and I apologize if you’ve covered this already, but have you tried any of the BB lines from prettyandcute.com? What’s your take on it/them? Any recommendations for this REALLY, EXTREMELY, UTTERLY OILY gal?

So, my cousin mailed me some Korean skin care items, including 7 cereals powder, and some bran/collagen face sheet masks. I think I understand the usage of the 7 cereals powder for cleansing and making masks, but as for the sheet mask, I wasn’t sure whether to use this before or after cleansing or whether to rinse after mask application. What do you think?

    • March 29, 2012 / 9:23 pm

      Hi! Great question.
      1) Sheet masks, as with any masks, should be used on a clean face πŸ˜‰
      2) Unlike a cereal mask, you don’t have to wash your face after a sheet mask. I typically just apply serum and/or moisturizer directly after I remove the sheet mask… or when I feel like the sheet mask let a residue, I’ll use my toner + cotton pad to lightly ‘cleanse’ my face.
I hope this helps you!~ Please visit again and ask more questions!~ xoxo

Are the Korean masks better than the Japanese? I just started ordering Kose sheet masks from a Japanese site. I like them so far ^_^

    • March 28, 2012 / 11:53 pm

Not sure if Korean ones are better than Japanese ones… i just have more experience with Korean ones. I’ll have to try the Kose sheet masks! πŸ˜‰ Try a couple of the Korean ones and let me know how you like them!~ xo

  34. March 19, 2012 / 12:55 am

So I hope this doesn’t sound totally dumb, but I’m wondering, what is the difference between Korean skin care products and other skin care products?

    • March 19, 2012 / 1:00 am

      No question is dumb!
In this post, I made it a point to call out the fact that the products were Korean, because almost all of them were Korean brands (except Qiora which is Japanese). I hope this answers your question?!? If you want more clarification, please email me! πŸ™‚

Leave a comment. I read each one! xo
