{How to} Shower for Clean and Clear Skin

Posted on August 6, 2012

Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend. :)

You may think it’s quite silly for me to write a post on how to shower (who doesn’t know how to shower right?)… but have you ever wondered if the way you shower is helping or hurting your skin?

There’s no set “shower rulebook,” but here’s the order I recommend for clean and clear skin from head to toe!

  1. Hair
  2. Body
  3. Face

Why this specific order?

  • Hair: Your shampoo and conditioner contain ingredients that may be harsh on your face. I probably go overboard, but when I rinse my shampoo and conditioner, I avoid having any suds run down my face! Also, I make sure to use a sulfate free shampoo… it’s better for your scalp.
  • Body: Once you’re done washing your hair, your body may be covered in shampoo/conditioner residue. Now it’s time to wash off that residue along with any lotion or sunscreen! If you experience back acne, following this order may really help you. :) Also, check out my “Break out of Breakouts” post for more tips.
  • Face: Imagine the residue that builds up in your shower… you want to be sure that your face is clear of all residue (makeup, sunscreen, and shampoo/conditioner residue). Wash your face last. :)

That’s it. A quick and simple post on how to shower! Have a great week everyone!

Until next time, stay pretty… inside and out. xo
