{Instant Nailart} Sephora X : The Toppers (Chaotic)

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope you’ve had a great weekend. I picked up some goodies from Sephora this weekend and am so excited to share an exciting find!

I picked up 2 polishes, but I want to focus your attention to the black and white polish (Chaotic) on the bottom left. It immediately caught my attention because it looked like black and white ink blots.  Then I noticed the bottle said “Topper” and “Finition.” I was even more intrigued.

Sephora Chaotic Topper Polish

“Let these illusionary topcoats alter your reality and add another dimension to transform any color into something completely new. Innovative textures and particle sizes transform your manicure with never-before-seen effects. A savvy substitute to your traditional topcoat with all of the benefits, it features a patented formulation for invincible long-wear, anti-chip, UV protection that is also water- and detergent-resistant. Wear alone or layer with a Sephora X nail color to add an edge to your look.” Available only at Sephora. $11.50

Basically, a “Topper” goes on top of your regular polish like a topcoat, but it dramatically changes the look of your polish. It’s like instant nail art in a bottle and all you have to do is apply!

It’s not required, but I applied my favorite topcoat to help smooth out the look. The Topper has a lot of glitter particles and I didn’t want them to fall off, or get caught on anything. It’s entirely up to you and there’s no wrong or right way. Just your preference.

Here’s a photo BEFORE with just OPI’s Suzi’s Hungry Again (currently my favorite pink shade).

Here’s an AFTER photo with the Topper in Chaotic! Instantly cute(r) with the “illusionary black and white confetti!

Doesn’t it remind you of my Splatter Paint Nails?… just without all the work! haha.

Sephora’s Topper in Chaotic is made up of 4 parts.

  1. Clear top coat polish
  2. White glitter in 5 different sizes
  3. Black glitter in 5 different sizes
  4. Thin black bars

Here’s a closer look.

Pink Opi and Topper

I wasn’t sure if I was loving the Topper because I was already so in love with OPI’s cute pink shade… so I paired it up with other colors to see if I would still like it as much. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos and a heavy coat of the Topper. Available here and here.

Essie Mint and Topper

OPI’s Atomic Orange with a lighter application. My favorite orange shade. Great for any skin tone. Available here.

Sally Hansen’s Mellow Yellow. Available here.

SpaRitual’s Street Smart. You can’t see all the black glitter, but it still looks great. Available here.

Tony Moly’s Indian Pink. Sorry, I couldn’t find any links. I bought mine on my last trip to Korea.

My Verdict: I LOVE this Topper and can’t get enough of it. It’s the perfect way to quickly and easily jazz up any polish color. A great way to give your old polishes a 2nd life!

I’ve received so many compliments in the short time I’ve had Chaotic on my nails. Can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a nail polish! I highly recommend The Topper in Chaotic (available here) and can’t wait to try it with my other polishes.

Hard Candy makes a PERFECT dupe of this called “Black Tie Optional”. It’s available at walmart (in stores & online) for $4!

I purchased at Sephora in California. Maybe it’s not in your Sephora yet? I think I have a link on the post so you could order it if you like! Good luck.
