Hello Lovelies,

Can you believe we’re almost halfway through December?! 2013 has flown by~ Wow.

A few weeks ago, I shared on Instagram (photos here) that I was waiting for my Naked 3 palette to arrive. Well, I got it a couple of weeks ago and am so excited to share my review with you! When I shared my Naked 1 vs. Naked 2 Visual Comparison (click here) about a year ago, I heard such great feedback from you… I decided to do a visual comparison for all 3 Urban Decay Naked palettes!

Please keep scrolling down to see all the swatches, and finally the visual comparison of the similar colors between all 3 Naked palettes!

Naked 3 - Copy

Naked 3’s case is the same as the Naked 2 palette. It’s metal, snaps shut, and great for travel. πŸ™‚ Below are swatches of all 3 Naked Palettes.

Below are swatches of similar shades between the 3 palettes. Hopefully they help you decide between Naked, Naked 2, and Naked 3 palettes!

BEST Urban Decay Naked Palette Comparison by PrettyGossip

Please reference the visual comparison chart above:

  • Trick from Naked 3 is similar to Chopper from Naked 2. Trick is a bit more pink.
  • Nooner, Tease, and Buck are all great medium brown (matte) crease shades.
  • Mugshot is a beautiful dark shimmery metallic taupe. YDK is a medium bronze metallic shimmer, and Sidecar is the lightest of the 3 shimmery shades. They’re not exact dupes, but I found them to be a bit similar… except for the degree of darkness of course. πŸ™‚ Scroll down to see more photos of the comparison.
  • Darkside, Snake Bite, and Hustle all look like a medium brown shimmer. With a closer look, Darkside leans slightly taupe compared to the other two shades. Even though the photos do not show Snake Bite and Hustle looking similar, they are very similar. A medium/dark bronze shimmer.
  • Busted and Darkhorse are deep brown shimmers.Β  Darkhorse leans a bit plum. Blackheart is a very deep brown, bordering black. This shade has the most shimmery finish with plum sparkles!

As you can see below, the colors in Naked 3 aren’t repeated in the original Naked and Naked 2 palettes! Some are similar, but no exact dupes.

Here’s another way to visually compare the similar colors in the Naked Palettes.

BEST Urban Decay Similar Shade Comparison in Naked Palettes by PrettyGossip

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

Naked 3 has 12 brand new colors. I didn’t find exact dupes or repeat of shades from Naked or Naked 2. I personally like the rose hued palette, but I love the original Naked palette with all those rich warm brown hues. I feel like the original Naked palette works best with my yellowy Asian skin tone. The light to medium rose hued Naked 3 palette also works really well for everyday wear. Honestly, you can’t really go wrong with any of the palettes!

My only complaint about Naked 3 is the fall out on Dust and Trick.Β  The glittery shades have a ton of fall out which makes application difficult and patchy.

I hope this comparison of the original Urban Decay Naked, Naked 2, and Naked 3 palette has been helpful! If you have any questions, please leave me a comment below! If you’re interested in the other neutral palettes, please check out my other posts!

very helpful. I read this as trying to decide which one to get as a gift for my daughter. I’m caucasian, my husband is of North Indian origin i.e. brown but not very dark. Our daughter gets asked all the time if she’s from Spain, Italy or other Mediterranean countries, or from North Africa. Very hard for me to buy for her as we’re so different looking. based on your review above I’m going to go with the original Naked palette. thanks for this very informative post.

that was an awesome read!! thanks!! i might try the naked palette since rosey palettes don’t work on my asian skin as well!!

    You make great comparisons!
For me the first two are more tempting, as Naked 3 has to much of pinkish undertones for someone with very warm skin tone. Naked 2 is the most appealing for me personally, I love all those light shimmery shades.

Oh gosh what a great post! I live in Australia and we can’t get these palettes here, but my boyfriend is currently in Europe and asked me what i wanted! So I am definitely going to ask him to buy me an Urban Decay palette…mmmm which one! I’m thinking the orgininal Naked :/ Gah don’t know! If anyone has any advice for me that would be great! I have pale (cool toned) skin, blue eyes and blonde hair xo

Thank you for your kind words! I’ve been using the original Naked lately and forgot how much I LOVE it! So… right now, I’d recommend the original. πŸ™‚ But like I said, you can’t go wrong with any of them! Good luck!

Ugh you make things so difficult!!!! I absolutely love your reviews. I have been wanting a naked palette and just buy looking at colors I’ve been leaning to the first palette. However I saw your comparisons with Lorac and Nude and now I don’t know which to go with.

Absolutely love your blog post you did comparing the 3 palettes, I have been contemplating buying Naked3 since it came out. Now, I’m convinced that I either buy all 3 or I just stay safe and go for naked 2 (seems like it has the basics you would want for a beautiful smokey eye) or even the original naked i love the colors in general in that palette.

Probably should just buy all 3 and see what works best for my own skin tone and undertones. πŸ˜›

I have Asian skin tone like you and I don’t know which one to get. I personally really want the naked 3 but I’m not so sure. Any suggestions? I really liked how you showed the colors that looked similar side by side. Merry Christmas!

You can’t go wrong with amy if them, but I really like the original. Good luck and let me know which one you chose! Xo
