Swiss Ice Crystal Story: Miles high in the Swiss Alps, in a world of sheer ice crystals, beauty transcends time. Here, two seemingly fragile plants and one tiny algae survive and thrive in the harshest setting on earth, developing strategies to outwit the environment. It’s only fitting then that la prairie, with a heritage deeply rooted in Switzerland, harnessed these extreme-survivalist secrets into the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Collection. The discovery combines some of the most sophisticated survivalist secrets.

My Thoughts:

When I got my samples, I was psyched but had my reservations. Will they live up to the hype? Will they be worth the $300 price tag? Well, I must confess that while I was skeptical, the dry oil and cream have impressed me.

Let’s first talk about how amazing the texture of the cream and dry oil together. Not too heavy, but provides ample moisture all without leaving the skin greasy and oily. Wow. My skin literally soaked up the oil and cream, and instantly looked healthier and my pores even looked smaller. I know these are two big claims, but they’re true! Skin felt amazingly soft and supple even just after one application.

The oil and cream can be used independently but work best as a duo. Here’s how I used the duo together. I take a pea size of the cream, add a drop of the dry oil directly to the cream, mix with my fingertips and apply with tapping motions.

la prairie swiss ice crystal review

As you may know, I have extremely dry skin and need tons of moisture. My go-to moisturizer is the La Mer cream… but la prairie’s Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal duo certainly challenges my loyalty. I love both the dry oil and the cream equally, but I think if I had to choose one… I’d purchase the oil and either apply the oil before my moisturizer, or mix it into my moisturizer.

Now let’s talk about the price. These two products are not cheap. The dry oil and cream are $300 each, totaling $600 for the duo (cream is 1.7oz and dry oil is 1oz). Yes, take a deep breath… that’s a lot of money. BUT… I must say that because the products are so amazing, I would consider purchasing these products. Or like I said, maybe invest in just the dry oil and use with your current moisturizer. The oil is not your typical greasy oil… it really does apply with a dry finish.

I hope this review has been helpful. If you’ve tried this product, please leave a comment below of your experience. Or let me know which products you’re currently loving!
